How to take care of your car during Monsoon?

All of us are preparing for the rainy season with our umbrellas and raincoats in place. While we are getting ready for the heavy rains, let us not forget to prepare our cars for the same.

Wondering why your car needs a bit extra care? It’s because the heavy rains have a terrible effect on your vehicle’s body. The dirt, mud, waterlogging, and massive jams are all bad for your car’s health. The water during the rain sticks to your vehicle resulting in rusting and electrical issues and has a corrosive effect on the car in the long run.

Many car owners miss out on essential tips necessary to take care of their vehicles during the monsoon weather.

Here are some useful tips for maintaining the good health of your car during the monsoon.

Tip 1:

  • Make sure that you have perfectly running tyres on the road to have a safe ride.
  • The right amount of tread is crucial for your care during monsoon.
  • Shallow tread in tyres during monsoon can be risky and can lead to road accidents. Get your car insured from the best car insurance company in India for your safety.
  • Also, keep a check on the tyres’ inflation regularly as low pressure will make it difficult for you to drive your car.

Tip 2:

  • Get the brakes of your vehicle checked.
  • Their proper functioning during monsoon is much more essential due to slippery roads and waterlogged streets.
  • To maintain the excellent condition of brakes, make sure you regularly clean and, if required, replace the brake pads.
  • Make sure they have required friction material, especially during the rainy season.

Tip 3:

  • Maintenance of wipers and washers during monsoon season is of prime importance.
  • Check and make sure that the wiper blades of your car do not leave behind any lines or smudges.
  • Wiper blades tend to wear out fast. Get them checked before the monsoon season sets in.
  • The rubber blades tend to crack during the summer season, making them ineffective during the monsoon season.
  • Check the washer’s reservoir level and top it when the level is low or as and when required.

Tip 4:

  • Water and electricity don’t go together, and we all are well aware of this fact.
  • Patch up any exposed wiring beforehand to ensure that your car’s electrical is in good working condition.
  • The life of your car’s battery too tends to decline if you are living in an area that receives heavy or regular rains. Get the battery replaced if required so that all the electrical components like headlights, wipers, etc., function properly.

Tip 5:

  • Working headlights, tail-lamps, and indicators or turn signals are vital regardless of the weather.
  • During monsoon, visibility is hampered, which requires your car’s lights to function well, making it easier for you to notice other road users.
  • Test your vehicle’s lights by running them together. If you notice that they are getting dimmer or are inconsistent, get them replaced with new bulbs.
  • Make sure they have required friction material, especially during the rainy season.
  • Note that flickering lights are also an indication of a weak battery.

Tip 6:

  • Do not allow water to sit on the body of your car, as this can harm its paint.
  • You can use a thin layer of wax polish to prevent the body of your car. Alternatively, you can also use anti-corrosion sprays.

Make sure to keep these tips in mind to have a safe ride. Chances of accidents during monsoon are high due to slippery roads and reduced visibility. Get car insurance from the Best Car Insurance Company In India at the best possible price and enjoy your ride with your loved ones.

Two Wheeler Insurance- Types of Cover you need, Exclusions, Benefits

Two-wheeler insurance provides coverage to two-wheeler vehicles and bikes. It primarily covers any losses incurred from road accidents, natural disasters, or theft. The motor vehicle act of 1988 also makes it mandatory for owners of vehicles to have valid motor insurance. You are liable to pay hefty penalties otherwise.

But what type of covers should you choose? Are there any exclusions? What benefits do these covers entail? All of these are recurring questions that will annoy you before you settle for a plan of your choice. So, read along to have these queries answered.

What are the types of two-wheeler insurance policy?

The two variants of two-wheeler insurance policies available in the market are third party and comprehensive cover. But before you choose from these two, you need your insurance expectations fulfilled without having to exceed your budget.

  • A third party cover is the cheapest option you can avail as of yet. This cover will save you from any legal liabilities if and when your vehicle is involved in accidents or has caused third-party damage. However, this doesn’t entail cover for damages incurred to your vehicle.
  • A comprehensive cover has a broader spread of coverage which includes damages to your vehicle along with third-party damages. This, perhaps, is reliably the best option for those who have bought a new bike.

Inclusion and Exclusions

Third-Party Two-Wheeler Insurance

The 2018 Supreme Court order mandates that it is compulsory to have a 5-year Third-Party Policy for two-wheeler owners. The cover will save you from liabilities associated with any third-party claim as well as personal injuries. However, there is no coverage provided for damage incurring on the vehicle or theft of the same.

Inclusions of Third Party Two-Wheeler Insurance

  • If your vehicle has caused bodily injuries to any third-party, the legal liabilities concerning the cost of treatment will be covered under this policy.
  • Similarly, damages incurred to any third party property will be fulfilled, and you will be compensated for the victim’s claim.
  • The compensation amount forwarded to the victim will be subjective and settled by the Motor Tribunal Court.

Exclusions of Third Party Two-Wheeler Insurance

  • Damage incurred due to non-collision is not covered under third-party bike insurance, for which the expenses are to be carried by you.
  • Damages on your vehicle won’t be covered as well
  • Damages impacting your bike due to any natural disaster or theft won’t be covered under this policy.

Note: Be thorough while going through your policy documents.

Comprehensive Bike Insurance

This insurance policy provides comprehensive coverage to your own and third-party damages. Comprehensive bike insurance makes it more bearable for the owners to recover from an accident.

Inclusions of Comprehensive Bike Insurance

  • Includes damages caused to your vehicle due to lightning, explosion, fire.
  • Includes damages caused due to any natural disaster, including storms, floods, inundations, earthquakes.
  • Includes recovery for vehicles stolen or damaged during strikes, or any malicious acts.
  • Includes cover for accidents due to accidents by external elements like, for instance, terror activity.
  • Includes cover for damages done during vehicle transit by waterway, lift, elevators, road and rail.

Exclusions of Comprehensive Bike Insurance

  • Damages occurring when the policy has expired won’t be covered.
  • Vehicular ageing causing vehicular wear and tear won’t be included.
  • Damages due to any electrical or mechanical breakdown are not covered.
  • If your vehicle is damaged when you are driving under the influence of any substance, no coverage is offered.
  • Two-wheelers used for any commercial activity won’t benefit any coverage from this policy when damaged.

Verdict

Now since you are well aware of the nuances of these policy variants, all you need to do is check up on a Two-Wheeler Insurance Rate , read through the policy documents, compare insurance service products across insurers and choose a plan that fits your insurance requirement.

Healthcare tips: How to keep yourself safe during Diwali in COVID-19

The festival of lights seems to be around the corner and preparations seem to be at the same pace as the previous years. Considering the fact at how the other festivals have been celebrated around the year with a different twist, courtesy of the Novel coronavirus, even the festival of lights will be something different.
Diwali 2020 is here, but so is the global pandemic. Thankfully, there are ways where we can have a vibe and energy of the festival, but with precautions at a limit. The good news is you can keep your excitements intact besides still enjoying them and cherishing the moments with your family with these few guidelines.

Healthcare Tips For Diwali 2020 To ensure proper safety and security and an environment where people can enjoy the festivities, the government has laid out essential guidelines to help the common public enjoy the festivities with ease. While the large gatherings and events are crucial, here are the other procedures to help you enjoy a safe and prosperous Diwali amidst the COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing norms.

● Refrain from using sanitisers before lighting Diya/candles

Refrain It is always advisable that you don’t use sanitiser before lighting up crackers. The nature of hand sanitiser makes them based on alcohol; therefore, it might risk exposure to burns when you decide to burn a cracker or light diyas due to its explosive nature.
However, to enjoy a safe Diwali while saving yourself from the virus, we recommend you wash your hands with soap and water before doing anything which involves lighting fire.

● Keep sanitiser away from fire

Just like you should keep crackers away from gas stoves, similar is the situation with sanitiser bottles.
While they are essential, it is crucial to understand the hazards that might come involved with the same. Their flammable nature might lead to an explosion when it comes in contact with a spark. Therefore, it is always advisable to keep your sanitiser bottles away from the scene where crackers are being lit.

● Keep water handy

Rather than carrying sanitisers with you everywhere, consider keeping water in close contact with the place where you are celebrating Diwali or merely lighting up the Diyas.
This way, you not only save yourself from the chances of spreading infection but also prevent injuries that can happen while you are opting for fireworks. Instead of carrying sanitisers everywhere, you can consider bringing water and paper soap instead. Since they are safer and you can easily wash your hands anywhere without the danger of catching fire.

● Maintain physical distancing

We understand the festivities need you to come closer to your family and spend quality time around. Remember, even Covid is around us, and we need to keep a note of the same.
We suggest you follow the government norms even while enjoying Diwali with your family and maintain the norms of social distancing. This way, you can not only enjoy the festivities at peace but also be sure that your close ones are safe. Besides trying to stay indoors, we also suggest that you prefer greeting your loved ones over video calls rather than meeting them. However, even if you meet them, do not opt for shaking hands and try welcoming the Indian way of namaste.

● Don't forget your mask

Mask is a must, while it is okay to celebrate all your festivities at your pace. Remember, there’s a reason that masks are suggested to you.
Do not forget to put on your mask even when you are stepping out or, better; you can also put it on while you are bursting crackers as this way, it will not only save you from the virus but also help you stay away from the pollution caused by the same.

● Follow all precautions

While it has been a familiar scene for people to be not following precautions and taking the pandemic lightly, we advise you to keep an account of all the precautions that are suggested and try to keep yourself and your family safe.

Guide to Buy a Used Car

Owning a brand new car is a dream that most of us have had when growing up. But with age, the practicality of finance dawned upon us. While it’s not something we wish to go for, buying a used car is often ruled out of the possibilities. The most common conception surrounding buying used cars is that they are old and have lost the charm of the new car, especially the already used engine, the brand new parts and the quality assurance from the car company is lost. We tend to miss out on the most important thing, used cars are themselves a proof of how good they are. They have undergone the trial and tests of time.
Still unsure of what to look for when thinking about buying a used car?

● The budget-

Before every large expenditure, one needs to keep aside a budget. The budget helps in cutting the corners and ensures we do not go overboard when spending our valuable and hard earned money. Do your research and homework on how to buy a used car and read all the important things that come as a procedure for the same.

● Car insurance-

Before buying a used car, always make sure to check the Car Insurance that covers the car. The reason behind it is tricky yet very simple. The history of car insurance claims shows you a brief data of how much repair it went through in the span of its running. The more the claims, the more did the car go through repairing and availed maintenance.

Always remember you can buy the best insurance online, if your car ever needs one.

● Any required changes or modifications after checking the car’s condition

Make sure to take a test drive before you buy any car- whether new or used. Taking a test ride makes you sure about the working condition of the major parts of the car. Whilst taking the ride you can ensure whether the lights work fine or have problems when lighting up, whether the stereo system is faulty. Also make sure you do a proper inspection of the car before finalising it. Check out for how old the car is, usually the prices of the cars depreciate after the first three years and also keep an eye for the wear and tear, if any that might cost you a bomb if gone unnoticed.

● Make required documentation-

Before buying a car, the first thing to keep in mind is the paperwork. Important documents like road tax receipt, the certificate of registration, insurance, pollution certificate, to name some, needs to be done carefully. If the aforesaid documents are not maintained in proper order, you would land yourself in a gruelling battle when transferring ownership.
Apart from these important pointers, as a buyer you need to do a thorough homework on whom to approach and when to buy. There are two types of sellers- the dealer and the direct seller. It is often advisable to go for the latter which removes any chances of you keeping yourself out from any kind of theft and fraud. There are many times when the middlemen tamper with the odometers of the cars and sell you the false information, which the direct owner would not. The direct owner would provide you with detailed and honest information of the service history, the original RC and the usage of the car.
Not only are the sellers important for understanding and getting an idea how the car was used, they also help you remove any kind of communication gaps that usually occur in the presence of a middleman.

Why do we need to be careful while crossing the roads?

With a striking increase in the number of vehicles on the road, traffic safety has become a crucial matter in the modern world. As drivers and as pedestrians both, you need to be extremely careful about yourself as well as your fellow citizens.

Yes, no doubt a lot of medical facilities are widely available nowadays. Many multi-speciality hospitals provide emergency services to the needy ones. Many companies offer individual health insurance in India. A variety of measures can be undertaken after an accident. But would you want to go through all of it? Better safe than sorry, right? That's why we present the importance of maintaining road safety.

The given article describes the importance of being careful while crossing the roads as well as discusses a few measures of how you can avoid any misfortune while doing so.

  • To avoid accidents - The first and foremost reason why you should be careful while crossing roads is to prevent collision with any vehicle. If you walk across haphazardly, you might end up getting hit by any driver who was not very careful with his driving. You cannot take control of what the fellow driver is doing, but you surely have the responsibility for your safety.
  • To avoid injury - Of course, an accident will result in severe injuries. If the force stays quite high during the collision, the pedestrian might lose his life as well! To avoid such circumstances, taking precautions is necessary.
  • To avoid a collision when someone is driving too fast - People are often seen to be in some sort of hurry while going somewhere as they operate at an unusually high speed. First things first, the speedily approaching vehicle has the potential to injure you severely if you get into its way. Moreover, applying brakes at high speed can be difficult and it provides absolutely no assurance that no collision will occur.
  • To avoid injury to the driver - If you somehow end up lucky enough to avoid being rammed into by a vehicle, thank your stars. But the case might not be the same with the driver of the car. There are chances that someone might have applied brakes all of a sudden to avoid colliding into someone and his head banged on the steering wheel. He might suffer injuries as well.
  • To avoid slipping on the road - Not just by accident, you can injure yourself by not maintaining balance while crossing the road and falling. You might end up hitting your head on the concrete. Worst case scenario, the driver of a random vehicle does not notice your fall and collides into you! You surely wouldn't want that to happen.
  • Measures that can be taken
  • Always cross from zebra crossing - All of you must have read about a zebra crossing in your school days. Those same instructions are what you need to follow. Nowadays, generally, zebra crossings are painted in the front area of traffic signals.
  • Look on both sides - As people tend to drive on the wrong side of the road, no guarantee looking at the opposite side of the way before crossing will keep you safe. To ensure maximum safety, always look on both sides and cross only when it's feasible.
  • Never run across roads - This is a crucial fact yet often goes unnoticed by people, never run while crossing a street. That doesn't mean you should walk extremely slow either. Always walk at a moderate speed so that you can cross calmly and can stop when any fast vehicle approaches.
  • Avoid crossing when incoming traffic is substantial - If you want to cross the road, but the number of vehicles coming in from the opposite end is large, try and wait for a while and let the rush reduce. You can cross when the road seems a bit or more empty. This eliminates the possibility of sudden collisions.
  • Having Individual Health Insurance In India only help you with the hospitalization related expenses but to stay safe and sound, you must follow the traffic rules diligently.

Bought A New Car This Monsoon Season? Don’t Forget to Buy Car Insurance Too

Driving around in a new car is an exciting feeling. But with owning a car, comes the responsibility of keeping it safe on the roads. In case of an event involving accident, theft, or fire, you may need compensation for damages sustained. Weather is also one of the primary factors due to which your car may suffer damage. Getting car insurance is a great way to provide a cover for your financial losses, especially during the monsoon season.

Why should you get Car Insurance In India?

Remember that a car is made up of a complex system of mechanical components and accessories. With comprehensive car insurance, you can easily get coverage for:

  • Damage after a road accident, fire, or vandalism
  • Damages that take place due to a natural disaster such as floods
  • If the vehicle is stolen
  • Unforeseen circumstances such as waterlogging

Accidents happen, but when you’re covered for the financial losses, it helps reduce your stress and brings you peace of mind.

Why do you need car insurance for the monsoons?

During the monsoon season, its even more important to consider securing your vehicle with a proper car insurance policy. Natural disasters like cyclones and flash floods can cause severe damages to property, including your car.

During monsoon water also collects in low lands and potholes making it really difficult to tell their presence. This often leads one to drive into potholes or park their cars in waterlogged areas. While the first one can cause damage to the body of the car, the latter can cause the engine to seize. But with the right insurance and the right add-on, both can be covered.

What would your car insurance policy cover during monsoons?

In the rainy season, no matter how cautious you are, there is always a risk of accidents due to poor visibility and slippery roads. Moreover, water damage like rusting, engine water-logging etc. are also quite common during heavy rains. Waterlogging happens if you drive through or start your car in deep water and the water gets into the engine. This leads to damage to the engine as well as electrical components. Sometimes, car insurers may exclude damage to the engine, but an engine protect add-on can offer you the required coverage. Similarly, roadside assistance add-on can be vital in ensuring you have help even during heavy rains.

While you have no control over the weather and road conditions, you can always be prepared to face them without any worries. Choose a good auto insurance policy such as Magma HDI's Private Car insurance and drive through monsoon worry-free.

What Will the two-wheelers Industry Look Like in the next ten years?

Two-wheelers have changed the landscape of transportation forever, ever since the invention of the bicycle world has adapted and moved forward with the revolutions two-wheelers brought in the world. Motorized two-wheelers have brought about the most significant change. They have better mileage than cars and are not as bulky as they are. Also, they are compact, and it is easier to tackle the traffic on a two-wheeler than in a car. They have made the world a smaller place. Now you can reach any destination you desire without tiring yourself. Two-wheelers have also empowered women. Women are generally nimbler than men. Now they can travel long distances and carry luggage on their two-wheeler without breaking a sweat.

Indeed, the invention of bikes has forever changed the transportation industry for the better. Most of the individuals and couples opt for purchasing a two-wheeler while families still rely on cars. Bikes have lower maintenance costs than vehicles, and also their cost per distance travelled is less than that of cars. Their compact size allows them to fit in most homes without the need for a garage. Though, you must never drive a bike without a helmet, nor should you ever drive it without insurance. If your bike is not insured, then now you can conveniently buy bike insurance online. As science progresses, there have been many revolutionary changes in bikes from how they look to their performance. The two-wheeler industry has also seen many economic changes over the years. Here is an overview of how the two-wheeler industry is expected to look in the next ten years: -

  • Currently, most of the two-wheeler market is dominated by mid-range two-wheelers. Id the current trend continues, we will witness an increase in high-range and low-range two-wheelers. This may lead to better technology in low-range bikes as well as high-range motorcycles to have more premium features and out of the box designs.
  • A.I. technology may make the bike riding experience better for everyone. We may witness automatic gear adjustments, terrain adjustments, fuel consumption adjustments, and much more. If A.I. technology grows at the current pace, the future is not too far when we will see it being installed on bikes.
  • We should hope for much better mileage and alternative fuel options. Currently, we have electric motorcycles, but they take a long time to charge and do not provide that much coverage. Electricity consumption is also high in bikes. In another decade we shall see much better bikes on the market that will run on electricity.
  • There has been recent news on bikes that utilize water as fuel and provide incredible mileage. There are no mass production variants yet. In another decade, we may have a range of motorcycles that use water as fuel and are environment friendly.

The future of the two-wheeler industry looks excellent. We have some significant advances in store for us within a decade. One thing will never change, though, that is safety guidelines and insurance policies. It is and will always be dangerous to drive recklessly. There is no hope of bikes that will allow you to drive without a helmet, either. Insurance policies will change slightly and will add more features and guidelines as technology progresses. They will more or less remain the same. It is essential to have your bike insured at all times. Right now, you can buy Bike Insurance online; maybe the future will be even more convenient.

What the world would be like if general insurance did not exist?

A world without general insurance is a world with millions of financially unprotected people. It may even be compared to a person without vaccination! The going is good as long as you don’t contract major diseases.

Why is insurance important?

It's not always possible to prevent falling sick. No matter how careful you are, someone can still break into your house. This uncertainty is what makes insurance important. It's a safety net that ensures that even if something happens, your finances don't suffer. At least not too severely. You can think of insurance as that vaccine that safeguards you against any future issues. After all, it is better to be safe than sorry.

General insurance in India covers an entire gamut of important aspects like health, home, vehicle, travel etc. Thus, to overcome the risks of everyday living, we need its security.

But what happens if there was no insurance?

You never realize the value of something until it isn’t available to you. That’s just good old human nature. So let’s appreciate insurance for what it does for us today.

Scenario 1:

You are driving back home, and it feels like every other day. However, a novice driver, driving a car with an L sign, hits your car and then speeds off. It leaves you with a broken headlight, dents and a damaged bumper.

Without motor insurance, now you need to pay everything out of your pocket.

Motor Insurance would have covered you by paying for damages to the vehicle and its owner. You could even increase your coverage by opting for add-ons such as personal accident cover and engine protection. Sounds much better than just lamenting at your loss right?

Scenario 2:

Your family has had a history of heart disease and you know you also run the risk of getting it. But there's no way to prepare for it. Later down the line, you need to get an expensive surgery done. While you manage to pay for it with all your savings, now you aren't left with much. You also are required to quit your work to recover.

This would not only affect you but your family's lifestyle as well. Health Insurance, in this case, could not only have taken care of your surgery but pre and post hospitalization expenses as well. It covers our hospitalization, OPD treatments and even alternative treatments like Ayurveda. It is truly a necessity with rising prices of healthcare these days.

Scenario 3:

You are returning from a vacation in the U.S. However when you arrive in India, you find that your luggage has not reached. After contacting the airport officials, you realize that your luggage is lost. Not much you can do about it except hope that the airline reimburses you for your loss.

This is where travel insurance comes to your aid. It ensures that you get a predecided amount in case your luggage is lost by the airline. Not just that, it can also cover you for flight delay, missed flights and more.

It should be clear enough now how our world would be affected if there was no insurance. You may or may not need it, however, the risks of remaining uninsured are far more disastrous. A world without General Insurance would be far more costly in every aspect that you can imagine. To find more about your options for general insurance in India, you can click here.

Tips to Help You Maintain Your Bike Better

There are many people who decide against buying a car, especially since it can be quite expensive to purchase as well as maintain, and instead opt for a motorbike. Bikes are much easier to fit in smaller spaces and offer the possibility of going a bit faster, something which excites many. However, just like any other vehicle, you need to make sure to take good care of it, which includes buying bike insurance online in india . Here are some tips to help you maintain your bike better: -

  • Keep the Tyres Inflated at All Times: Bikes do not offer the same kind of protection as cars, and thus it is much more important for you to take all the necessary safety measures, one of which is keeping your bike tyres inflated. In case they aren’t or start to lose air while you are driving it, it could lead to a serious accident and thus, you must check your tyres regularly and have them filled up if needed.
  • Do Not Forget to Lubricate: Regularly, try and change the oil since that helps to prevent the engine as well as gears from getting extremely worn out, which could lead to them not working properly. Besides causing trouble in starting up, not oiling the said parts could lead to further damage and could make it nearly impossible to drive the bike. Therefore, buy the lubricant which is specific to your bike and oil any metal parts.
  • Check to See if the Wheels are Fine: Quite often, an older bike can start having problems with its wheels, wherein they become slightly loose, and thus it becomes difficult to maintain proper direction and you also run the risk of the bike sliding. In case you see that your wheels are a bit loose, or not as sturdy and solid, immediately take the bike to the workshop to get fixed so you avoid accidents.
  • Regular Servicing: Just like every other vehicle, your bike too needs to be taken regularly to the workshop to get serviced. Whether you are experiencing problems with it or not, taking it to get checked up is always a good option since it can help detect any possible issues as well, such as with the engine, tyres or the brakes. It is always better to have the problem taken care of at an earlier stage than to go and get it fixed once it becomes serious.
  • Adjust the Clutch: You need to make sure that you adjust the clutch just right; tighten or loosen it such that it suits you the best. In case you tighten it too much, it might slip out of your hands and will also lead to an increase in fuel consumption.
  • Owning a bike is comparatively easier than a car, especially in terms of finances, but that does not mean it does not need to be taken care of. It is still an investment and so, you need to follow a certain set of practices to ensure that your bike remains in the best condition possible. A great way to avoid having to spend a huge amount on repairing any damages is to insure the bike. Buying marine cargo insurance policy bike insurance online in India has become quite a simple process.

A Comprehensive Health Insurance Checklist

The health of you and your family is something that cannot be traded. You must make sure in all walks of life that it is well taken care of, and that if something falls stray, you have good health insurance to back things up.

If you are looking to buy health insurance in India for your parents, then you should put special effort into choosing a policy which caters to the need of growing age — a policy which has an extended cover period at reasonable rates.

Here is a checklist that you can follow to make sure that you make the best out of your health insurance.

Claim settlement rate

One of the deciding factors that you should look at while buying a health insurance policy is the claim settlement rate. The higher the claim settlement rate of a company, the quicker is the process of payout. A higher settlement rate also means that the insurance provider is doing a good job with administering the policy so that no hindrances come at bay when the insured individuals decide to make a claim.

Hospitalization expenses

Medical fees, especially the pre and post hospitalization expenses, can leave you sweating. It would be best if you opted for health insurance which covers your entire hospitalization cost for free. A good insurance policy should pay for your visit to the doctor, prescribed medicines, surgeries, hospitalization costs, and follow up investigations.

Network of hospitals

Accidents and ailments can happen anytime, anywhere. Thus, you should opt for a policy that has a wide network of partner hospitals, so that you or your family can be treated anytime, anywhere, without having to move to a different place. More importantly. All of this should be free of cost. Having accessibility to good hospitals can not only save you time but also save you much money which you might have to shell out with travelling.

Support for daycare

To claim your health insurance, you should be hospitalized for at least 24 hours. However, there are several cases that do not require hospitalization. All they need is daycare — someone to take care of you while you are bedridden, perhaps at home, or even going around with a disease such as cataracts and neurological problems where you are still quite functional, if not completely. To have this covered, opt for a policy that provides maximum daycare support.

Deductibles you should be aware of in your health insurance plan

Health insurance plans are much needed as they provide you with a sense of protection against the various odds in life. If you are trying to get the Best Health Insurance In India For Parents, or other members in your family, then you should look at a plan which offers extended cover at low premium rates.

There are several ways through which you can save on your health insurance premiums as well, and one of such approaches is opting for the right deductibles.

Insurance deductibles are the money that you receive during the course of your insurance before the claim period. Having a better understanding of the deductibles can help you save quite a bit on your insurance policy.

Type of deductibles and what they mean

Health insurance policies in India come with two types of deductibles: voluntary and compulsory. However, in international markets, other deductibles come into force. Below are the various types of deductibles that are applied to health insurances.

Compulsory deductibles: : These types of deductibles are made mandatory by the Indian government for the benefit of the customer. These are fixed sums that an insurance company pays to the insured while they make a claim.

Voluntary deductible: Suggestive of the name, voluntary deductibles are opted by the insured at the time of purchasing insurance. This helps them bring down the cost of the insurance premium.

Comprehensive deductibles: Comprehensive deductibles come into play and are applied across covers. They keep on adding up until the time you have paid the total amount under the agreements of your policy.

Non-comprehensive deductibles: These deductibles are applicable to certain kinds of cover. It requires you only to pay a certain sum of money while you claim your policy.

Cumulative deductible: Cumulative deductibles are applicable in a family health insurance plan. They come into force when all the members included the insurance plan have made the payments to fulfil the net payable amount.

Choosing a deductible

While it may be tempting to choose a higher insurance deductible, it might not always be the safest bet. It would be best if you thought of long-term before choosing a deductible. If you feel that the cost of your premiums are too much to meet the insurance deductibles, then it is a wiser option to choose a plan which has a lower premium

It is also advisable that you read your policy documents carefully to understand how deductibles work in a context. However, if you still have trouble understand specific terms and how deductibles work, then you can always contact your insurance provider. They will give you a broader context of the deductibles that can be applied to your health insurance policy.

The truth about theft insurance

With gated communities and technologically superior security systems, theft has significantly reduced in our country; however, as with any other type of risk – it can only be minimised, not eliminated. Its consequences also are not limited to your financial losses but also includes trips to the police station, affidavits, reams of paperwork, fear and trauma, leaving you depleted in all senses of the word.

This is where theft insurance comes in. Getting financial protection for your loss sure does take a load off your mind if an unfortunate incident does take place. Read on to find out more about theft insurance and how it works.

Theft insurance is essentially a plan that will cover you for any losses arising from burglary, robbery, etc. Not only does the policy cover you for the loss of valuables but also for any damage to premises, furniture, fixtures and physical assault during the attempt. Insurance providers such as Magma HDI also cover temporary security expenses so that you and your loved ones can feel safe again. Thus, you can rest assured that your insurance plan will take care of all your needs.
Important points to remember
  • It is imperative to carefully go through your policy documents to understand the coverage, terms and conditions, exclusions etc. provided to you. For example, when looking to travel extensively, some insurance companies will ask you to intimate them if the premises will remain unattended for an extended period of time.
  • The claims process for any insurance policy holds immense significance for all of us. Under a theft insurance policy though, theft and burglary are two separate events while filing your claim. While theft is a non-violent and unforceful entry into your premises, a burglary involves a forceful or violent attempt by breaking in/ tampering in order to rob you. Usually, you would need a separate cover for either peril, but nowadays insurance companies in India provide coverage for both through a single policy.
Ideal coverage

A common dilemma while opting for a Theft Insurance Policy is determining how much coverage you need. An important point to remember while making this decision is that your coverage will be limited to the sum assured by you. So, if you have assets worth 20 lakh in your home and have a coverage of 5 lakh, the insurance will only cover the loss till the extent of the sum assured. To avoid getting inadequate coverage, it is important to assess the worth of all your insurable assets and look for an insurance plan that gives you coverage based on your needs.

Exclusions

There will inevitably be a few exclusions to your cover. For example, some theft insurance policies do not cover cash or cash equivalents, stocks and share certificates, agreements and title deeds. Similarly, you may need to purchase a rider to cover for precious metals such as gold, silver, etc., precious stones such as diamonds, and other art and antiquities. Thefts committed by family members, house help or employees, loss arising due to riots, terrorism and war are excluded as well.

A final tip for you is staying on top of your policy. Reassessing your coverage needs periodically, especially when adding new inventory, expensive machinery or valuables will ensure that your financial risk is minimised in case of any unforeseen incidents.

Everything you need to know about marine insurance

In spite of the advancement in road, air and rail transportation, the sea route remains the most preferred mode of freight for international trade purposes. The sheer magnitude of cargo at stake is enough to make anyone think twice about what measures you can take to secure your shipments.

This is where marine insurance comes in. It gives you the peace of mind you need with its extensive coverage.

What is marine insurance?
Marine insurance protects you in case of damage/ loss of cargo, ships and vessels; when a property is acquired, transferred or held in possession between the starting point up until the destination.
Why buying marine insurance is a good idea?

Consider an example. Suppose you are a seller and you put your goods on a ship. Due to bad weather or a storm at sea, there is damage to valuable goods to an extent whereby the customer at the destination refuses to accept the final goods. For no fault of yours and due to unavoidable circumstances, you would suffer a monetary loss that could even go in crores!

Thus, it is essential to buy marine insurance to get coverage for the following:

  • 1. Export or import shipments.
  • 2. Goods being transported using sea, rail, road, post or air.
  • 3. Goods being carried via coastal vessels plying between ports located within the country.
  • 4. Goods that are transported via the vessels plying along rivers.
Other Advantages

Here are some other advantages that you are entitled to with your marine insurance-

  • 1. The insured obtains additional advantage of global claim survey and settlement.
  • 2. The cover accommodates diverse situations including property damaged either/or onshore or offshore, casualty at sea, marine liability, hull damages and other needs of the insured.
  • 3. There is an option to extend the plan to include protection against extraordinary circumstances like perils at sea, strikes, pirate hijack etc.with the help of add-on covers.
  • 4. Marine insurers would be willing to provide tailor-made policies as per specific requirements and budget of the insured such as Magma HDI's Marine Insurance Policy.
Exclusions

Marine insurance covers many situations, but the following are the exclusions:

  • 1. Normal wear and tear or leakage.
  • 2. Goods getting damaged during transportation owing to improper packaging.
  • 3. Any damages due to delays.
  • 4. Any damages caused intentionally to incur a loss and make a subsequent claim.
  • 5. Any damages due to a civil disturbance, war, strikes, riot etc.
  • 6. Any damages due to a financial difficulty such as bankruptcy or financial default of the owner of the transport vessel.

It is always a great idea to assess your unique needs before going out to purchase any insurance. However, getting a plan that is comprehensive in nature can never lead you wrong.

Health insurance is ignored by people for many reasons, and this has led to India's problem of "under-insurance." Herein, people opt for an inadequate amount or rather do not opt for any health insurance thinking that no ailment can affect them. Another reason given by people is that the premium for health insurance is very high, and they cannot afford it.

  • Start early: Health insurance premium against a new policy for a young person of 25 years will be much lower than for a mature person of around 50 years of age. This is due to the risk involved for the insurer. So, you must subscribe to a. personal accident insurance online as soon as you start work, to enjoy the lowest premiums. Then gradually, keep on enhancing the coverage of your policy as your income rises.
  • Do some research: Several online insurance marketplaces have come-up, which allows you to compare policies from different insurers easily. As these marketplaces eliminate the agent from the transaction, the cost of the policy goes down substantially. By comparing the coverage of different policies, you can reduce your premium payments significantly.
  • Opt for a floater policy:  You can opt for a floater policy wherein one policy covers your entire family, including dependants. Instead of paying separate premiums, you only need to pay a single premium and will get insurance coverage for the whole family.
  • Tax Benefits: You can claim an income tax deduction of up to Rs. 25,000 for the health insurance premiums paid in a financial year for yourself and your family. If you pay a health insurance premium of your parents, you can claim an additional tax deduction. Thereby, you can save substantially on your income tax liabilities.
  • Online renewal: When you renew health insurance online, through the insurance company's website or any online marketplace, you can enjoy lower premiums. As the companies do not need to pay any commissions, you can save a significant amount of money by opting to renew health insurance online.

The benefits offered by a health insurance plan are too good to be ignored just because you think health insurance is unaffordable. Do some research, and you will see that health insurance is indeed affordable and is rather a necessity for your family.

Five things you should know about personal accident insurance

Financial security is a priority for any family and having health insurance is one of the first steps towards keeping your family secure during health emergencies. But, what about other emergencies which are beyond the coverage of any health insurance policy?

Zeenat, a single parent of a 6-year-old daughter, takes as many precautions for her daughter's well being as she can. She has saved enough for daughter’s future in forms of fixed deposits and mutual funds. She has also taken health insurance for both to secure against any health emergencies. The planning seems perfect for a family of two people except for a loophole, not having an accident cover that could put all in vain if something goes wrong.

According to a report by the TOI, In India alone, about 1.49 lakh people lost their lives by road accidents in 2018. Personal accident insurance is an answer to such life-threatening situations, as a family gets shattered just by the news of an accident, let alone the future consequences that might bring substantial financial burden. However, before you go for a personal accident insurance plan, here are some things that you must know:

1. What is personal accident insurance?

personal accident insurance policy gives you a cover against accidents. It could be a road accident, a sudden fall, or any situation that leads to a disability or even death. Having personal accident insurance will save your expenses during such an emergency, and the insured amount would also take care of the loss of income that occurred during this period.

2. What does a personal accident insurance plan offer you?

Personal accident insurance generally envelops accidental death, permanent total disablement, permanent partial disablement and temporary total disablement.

But one thing that worries a person is what if the medical expense goes beyond what his policy can cover? With Magma HDI's Individual Accident Policy cover, a person can opt for Medical Expense Extension and Hospital Confinement Allowance.

3. What does the personal accident policy not cover?

It does not cover natural death due to drug addiction or alcoholism, adventurous sport, a breach of law with criminal intent, suicide-attempt, pregnancy, war, civil war, invasion, act of foreign enemies, revolution, insurrection or mutiny, pregnancy, participation in any naval, military or air force operations, curative treatments or interventions.

4. What is the need for personal accident insurance?

The need arises from the gap that health insurance and a life insurance policy will not cover. While, health insurance mainly covers the severe ailments and any other health emergencies, a life insurance policy pays compensation only in case of death. A personal accident insurance policy, on the other, is equally important for your insurance portfolio, which covers the policyholder in case of hospitalization or even in case of death due to an accident.

5. What is the ideal personal accident insurance?

The ideal personal accident insurance depends on individual exposure to situations and risks. For example, if your profession requires extensive travel, opt a plan that covers your international travel.

Go for the best personal accident insurance plan that ensures the maximum coverage and financial stability in the event of any accident.

India, too, is making significant strides in the EV market, with the government's commitment to promote electric mobility.
India's ambition to electrify its transportation system is evident in its National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) and Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) schemes. These initiatives aim to encourage EV adoption by offering incentives, tax breaks, and promoting charging infrastructure development.
As more consumers switch to EVs, the focus on battery technology and its maintenance becomes pivotal after all the battery is at the heart of this technology revolution. And with the growth in this market, there arises a need for a tailored insurance solution as well.
However, many motor insurance companies still do not provide any specialized coverage for EV and HEV batteries, resulting in a void in this fast-developing sector. However, forward-thinking insurance companies are recognizing the opportunity and starting to offer specialized coverage for batteries.

The weather seems to be perfect for a car drive, but your vehicle is refraining from starting, ever ben in such a situation?

Yes, we understand your problems, and the struggle is real when it comes to cars that stop suddenly, giving no hints of starting.
It can be a real deal when your lovely ride stops in the middle of a road and deny your orders to start. Having a car that stops suddenly can lead you to grave danger, especially when you are outside and need to go somewhere.
Interestingly, as easy as it is for your car not to start, similarly, there might be a principal reason behind the same. Therefore, let’s have a look at four common reasons why your car is not starting.

● Your timing belt is the real problem:

For those of you who don’t know what a timing belt is, it is an essential part of the car that is responsible for its effective running and performance. Your timing belt inside the vehicle is the primary reason why it keeps running and adapts to speed. Yes, gears do play a significant role, but the timing belt is what ensures that the engine’s valves open and close at the proper interval.
Therefore, your timing belt can be one of the most common reasons why your car has become idle and fails to start. A significant reason behind the same can be that the valves inside the timing belt and the pistons are not meeting each other at a said interval, failing to give you efficient results and movement.
Moreover, your timing belt is the major part that you should look after whenever you go for servicing. Having a timing belt that fails to keep up with the systematic opening and closing of the valves can lead to harmful damage to the engine. It is always advisable for you to change your timing belt at a regular interval of every 60,000 miles or five years (whichever is earlier).

● Your alternator might be the cause:

An alternator is that essential part of your car that is responsible for the effective functioning of all the electrical pieces of equipment that function inside your car. Its most significant function is to start the spark plug and essentially provide it with the spark that is responsible for the running of your engine.
Besides the successful starting of your engine, a failed alternator can also be the cause behind the failure of other necessary parts of your car. It is also linked with the plugs that power the headlight and therefore, you need to keep a check on your alternator as well, in case your car fails to start.

● Your battery might be corroded:

It is no hidden fact that cars perform majorly due to the presence of a battery inside it. The battery is responsible for running all the electric-based components of your vehicle and also plays a significant role in igniting your engine.
Corrosion on your battery can be serious trouble for you as it is like rust and will ultimately end up waiting away your car’s battery beside the other significant parts that are developed out of iron. We suggest you always keep a check on the health of your battery and its corrosion, every time you take it to a service centre.

● Are you sure your air filter isn’t clogged?

Similar to the other necessary elements of your car, the air filter might also be the cause that is failing your vehicle to start. An air filter plays a significant role in keeping up with the excellent health of the drivetrain of the car. It filters out all the harmful elements like dust particles to keep up with the smooth functioning of your vehicle.
An air filter is essential for your car to your car 'breathe'. A clogged air filter might also pose serious damage to the blockage of the exhaust pipe, leaving your vehicle to fail from the start.

How to take care of your car during the winter season?

With the onset of the winter months, the mercury drops, and so does the efficiency of your car if you do not maintain it well. Considering, you have invested a lot of money in buying your car and have chosen the best company to buy private car insurance in India and what not? So why neglect it during the chilly time of the year?

Cars require year-round maintenance to provide a smooth driving experience to the owner. After all, who wouldn't want that, right? Therefore, the following guidelines are prepared to guide you on how to take care of your car during the winter season:

Heaters - Although a major part of India does not witness extreme cold weather during the winters, occasional chilly winds and low temperatures can tempt people to use the heaters in their car. What would be better than getting a good amount of heat after being outside in the cold for too long? That's why keeping a check on the heating system inside the car is essential.

Starting the car - There is a general belief that the engine takes longer to warm up in the winter due to the surrounding low temperatures. Up to a certain extent, this is true. That's why people leave their car engine running for a while before driving. But that does not help much. The engine warms up after you drive, so it is best to take it out at regular intervals. As a result, you can make sure that the fluids are moving around efficiently, and the condition of the car does not take a hit in the cold weather.

Fuel tank - If you live in extremely cold areas like those in the North which tend to receive snowfall, you must always keep your fuel tank full. If petrol or diesel is filled enough, the accumulated water can be prevented from freezing inside the tank, thereby saving your car from potential fuel damage.

Engine oil - Engine failure is a common problem during the cold months. For the enhanced performance of your car, check the manuals that came along with it and use the mentioned engine oil so that the chances of any mishaps decrease. Also, maintain a certain minimum limit of oil and ensure that oil does not reduce past that limit.

Windshield wipers - Apart from engine oil, windscreen fluid is something you need to keep full. Due to fog or light snow, the visibility of the road ahead of your car decreases. If your windshield is not clear either, you will face a tough time driving. That is why we recommend maintaining the cleaning fluid as well as the proper working condition of the wipers.

Tyre checking - A lot of people might be unaware of this fact, but tires need to be changed with the weather. Especially in the northern parts where temperatures tend to drop to an extreme. Winter tires are built in such a way that they remain firm to the ground and maintain stability even in low temperatures. Even if there is no snow, these tires provide ease and smoothness in situations like applying brakes and taking a turn on the road. Also, ensuring the air pressure of the tires is a wise decision as driving around with less pressure can lead to premature wearing out and chances of accidents or collisions increase.

Servicing - If you have little or no knowledge of how to maintain your car during the winter, just contact the authorized service centres of the company or other trusted service providers that can take away your burden and ensure the good condition of your vehicle. This way you can attain a feeling of satisfaction that any problems existing already would be taken care of and further possible damage can be avoided. While a lot can be done, sometimes the breakdown of a car is inevitable. In such cases, availing private car insurance in India will help in keeping the expenses in control.

Got a salary hike? Four things you must do after getting an increment!

Ever imagined what the three magical words for people with jobs are? It has to be, “Salary got credited”. But the actual happiness comes in when you get an increment in your current salary. Getting a salary raise after years of hard work is a significant milestone in life. After constantly working towards achieving your goals, earning a salary hike is a moment to celebrate, even if it’s small.

Once your source of income increases, your expenses also go up simultaneously. In addition to this, your taxes inflate too. Unless you have a proper financial plan, things might take a toll. But, not to worry, here are a few essential steps that you can implement after getting a salary increment.

1. Clear all your debts – no more instalment reminders:
Before you start spending more, it is important to clear the outstanding dues. If you plan to purchase something new on credit card or instalment, you must clear your loans or ongoing EMI. This will ensure that you don’t end up in any financial burden or unnecessary late payment on your existing loans. Once your dues are paid, your financial responsibility will automatically lower down, meaning you can spend extra on your next vacation or upgrade of your car!

2. Review your general insurance plans – improve the quality of life:
Life is unpredictable; you never know what another day may bring. The previous insurance might not be enough to fulfil your current financial needs. As your salary increases, you want to make sure that you secure the future of your loved ones by saving adequate funds. Insurances could be multiple such as your life insurance plans, motor insurance, general insurance plans, or your health insurance. Make sure you increase the budget of your coverage with more features for the better financial security of your family.

3. Make effective tax planning – be a super saver:
No one can neglect the taxes. As a responsible citizen, you are obligated to pay a certain amount of income tax on your earnings, depending on your income. After an increment, your taxes will also increase. Unless there’s proper planning, you might end up paying heavy taxes, which you could avoid by investing in financial instruments. For example, you can invest in life insurance plans, mutual funds, stocks, etc. Under the law, the taxes will not consider the fees you will pay for your insurance.

4. Work towards increasing your net worth – get ready to grow more:
Securing your money for long-term benefits is one of the wisest decisions. As your source of income increases, your standard of living improves. Your hobbies will change as you want to travel, learn new courses, or provide all the facilities to your kids. However, this cannot happen if you simply earn and spend. You can decide to invest in properties, gold or SIPs. Depending on the risk you can bear, ensure to invest in balanced funds, equity, or other market-linked funds.

After years of hard work, you feel more motivated at work when you finally get recognition. Always hold on to this motivation and work with dedication to justify respect and financial security. Since maintaining a sensible lifestyle should be your priority, ensure you get protected with a robust general insurance plan to gain extra benefits for you and your family. As it is rightly said that hard work has no substitute, you need to sweat and exploit your capabilities to conquer the milestones you’ve set for yourselves.

Insure Yourself With Exercise: Stay Active Amidst Coronavirus

The process of self-quarantining must be wearing you off with an increase in social distancing. The new normal routine comprises a couple of video calls, work from home, binge watch-eat sessions, and peace of mind.

Benefits Of Working Out During COVID-19

No wonder that COVID-19 changed our way of normalcy. Be it the transition into virtual conversations over weekend plans. The real issue arises when it comes to motivation; pushing yourself the extra mile isn’t as simple as before. In the comfort of home, possibly, you feel you need to recreate your mini gym experience. Don’t worry, even if your experiences are not as vivid as swimming or hiking with friends; nevertheless, it is appropriate for your overall health.

The next issue is regarding the time slot, as the decision weighs more on “should” instead of “want.” Setting up a workout schedule is a simple priority task. It isn’t as important as global hunger or youth unemployment but positively impacts your physical and mental health. Even half an hour of workout motivates you to stay energetic throughout the day and lets you focus on other elements.

Daily workout sessions help curb depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, and provide a stress-free life approach. During these uncertain times, take charge of your life by investing time to workout. For your empowerment, Magma Insurance brings in the best general insurance plans. Compare and choose among the policies relevant to you. General insurance includes insurance for different coverage such as fire, marine, accident, travel, and other related non-life insurance.

Exercise Plan To Stay Motivated

Amidst the chaos of being laid back yet managing it all from home, diving straight into an intense workout regime isn’t typically what you need. Make a workout plan based on your energy level, existing health issues, and available time in your schedule. Start small, gradually build-up on successes. Magma Insurance general insurance plans help you stay motivated while covering up for you against calamities.

Prioritize Your Workout

Maintain your workout routines just as you would stick to your appointments. Instead of feeling out of time, keep a separate schedule for workout. So you instead finish off your workout session and move on to other important work. A burst of exercise stimulates your mind and pushes you through the rest of the pending tasks.

Do It At Your Own Time

Perhaps, setting a time for your workout schedule doesn’t seem much of a task but following it is. Some people find it immensely energizing to set up a long term exercise routine in the morning. As after finishing off, it sets a positive tone for the day. Others prefer evenings to get charged and end the day by shedding off kilos of worries. Magma Insurance general insurance plans are here to wipe out your concerns about any mishap during these unprecedented times.

Track Your Specific Workout Goals

Set in goals to hit your overall target, rather than merely aiming for a better shape. For instance, 30 minutes cardio session every day can not only boost positivity but also help you attain your desired body image. Keep track of activities via one of the many fitness applications that measure factors such as duration of your workout, distance covered, efforts to aim daily goal of steps, and heart rate.
Workout sessions include proper usage of equipment. Even at home, wear good shoes, tight clothes to ease you through your adaptive phase. Consult a doctor if your health issues interfere with your workout session or if you witness any other effects due to work out. Give your body an adequate amount of time to adjust and improve. To avoid any hassle and stay secure, try Magma Insurance general insurance plans.
Instead of sitting idle all day, binge-watching your favorite show, or on meeting calls, try walking around the home. Clean your pod, scrub a sink, or water your plants. Do squats or lunges or jumping jacks in between breaks.
Magma Insurance general insurance plans are the new age insurance plans which cut down the excess paperwork, seamless communication, easy investment, and claim process.

Full-face vs. Modular. Which helmet provides the best safety and convenience?

A motorcycle helmet is one of the essential pieces of a rider’s protective equipment. Helmets reduce the risk of death by protecting the rider from the severity of head injuries. When purchasing a motorbike helmet, giving safety priority over looks is the best approach.

While there are a variety of helmets available, we'll talk about the two specific ones, i.e., Full face & Modular. In this article, we share the plus and minus of each to help you decide which one to go for.

1. Full Face Helmet: A full-face helmet entirely covers the head. It has two openings: one at eye level and one at the neck. It is shielded by a movable, clear visor. The chin bar is the band that wraps around the bottom of the visor. The part of the shell covers over the lower portion of the rider's head.

Pros:

● The chin bar integrates with the rest of the helmet's body. This makes the full-face helmet stronger than the modular type.

● Riding with a full-face helmet gives you the best shot at escaping severe injuries.

● Modern-day full-face helmets include a visor that can be lifted to clean it or get some ventilation.

● These helmets don't have visor lifting mechanisms, thus making them lighter.

Cons:

● They lack ventilation. In hot conditions, riders can find this a significant minus point as it can make them sweat extensively and cause itching.

● Some riders, especially claustrophobic ones, find the full-face helmet inconvenient.

● Full-face helmets have visor fogging problems during cold or humid conditions. As the lower part of the full-face helmet cannot move, it’s difficult to wipe the fog.

● Riders with glasses can have difficulty finding a full-face helmet that fits properly around the face.

2. Modular Helmet: A modular helmet is a kind of similar to a full-face helmet at first glance. But upon looking closer, you will spot a movable chin bar. This is useful when riders want the protection of a full-face helmet when riding but prefer the flexibility of opening the helmet up at any time without taking it off completely.

Pros:

● It protects like a full-face helmet and has the breathability of an open-face helmet.

● Riders get the option to open the front portion of the helmet to enhance ventilation, especially if they ride in hot conditions.

● Very helpful for those whose job requires communicating at frequent stops, like food delivery and courier people.

● Riders who use glasses find modular helmets more comfortable.

Cons:

● As the chin bar is not part of the body, it’s not very sturdy. A modular helmet will not provide the same facial protection as a full-face helmet in an accident.

● They are heavier and bigger due to a visor lifting mechanism.

● If your visor is lifted, strong winds while riding can take off your helmet if you haven’t buckled it tightly. This can cause catastrophic scenarios for you and others around you.

Now that you understand the pros & cons of each type, consider the safest two-wheeler helmet that protects you from possible impact. Choose the one that fits your needs and go for it. Just relying on helmets and safety gears for protection is not sufficient. Buying bike insurance further protects you from financial worries during a fall or collision. Buying bike insurance online is most convenient as the process involves minimal paperwork and gets you a lower premium.

Is your car ready for a safe spin post lockdown?

Life has been kind of different in the past two months, with minimal exposure to the outside world. Indeed, one crucial part of everyday life that we all miss is going to our offices. As work from home became the norm, meetings that happened in client’s conference rooms were replaced with e-meetings. The lunchtime chatter was substituted with a discussion of pending daily chores. While few may feel that work from home had perks like hot home-cooked meals for lunch (cooking at home became a compulsion for our safety), and the casual Friday clothing all days of the week but nobody will disagree that economy is suffering.

While COVID-19 may have altered our lives, but, it is crucial to get back to business. We must try and become better than earlier so that business of business, living and fighting Corona Virus can go on together. Pre-caution, vigilance and immunity/preparedness are the key operating sentiment. Some of these skills that we acquired as part of evolutionary growth will become sharper.

As we plan to get back, we will need to re-establish our routines. Your travel companion, your vehicle deserves your attention It is “it” that will run and literally carry you for business. After months of being out of focus, it is time we brought back the lights. Before you go out, here is a mandatory checklist for you to perform at least a couple of days before you start - Check whether your insurance policy is still valid. In case your policy has expired during the lockdown, do not worry. Just click on the link below to renew your Motor policy. (Provide renewal link)

Give a nice look to your vehicle form all the sides and see if there is any accidental damage. In case you find one immediately reach out to us. Also check for leaks, corroded fittings, rotten hoses or compromised seals. In case you find any immediately contact the car service centre for remediation.

- Ascertain whether your vehicle battery is charged or not. You will not be able to self-start the vehicle if the battery is dead. In case it is do not worry, our road side assistance program is there to help the customers.

-Check tyre air pressure and avoid ride disturbance that could happen due to inadequate tyre pressure. Do you see flat spot the spots that come on the tyre, if a vehicle sits for too long. Weight of the vehicle causes flat spots on the tyre where the rubber meets the road. While it may not be a cause if immediate concern but it does impact the tyre in the long run.

Agree that you couldn’t clean your car and dirt has piled up on the surface but hold. Don’t wipe the surface directly with a damp cloth. Ideally we should remove the dust sing a dry cloth or with an air pump otherwise using the damp cloth will cause swirl marks.

Clean the wipers with a damp cloth and avoid damage to wiper and windscreen

Check your running lights. Activate turn signals, headlights, brake lights, and high beams to ensure they are functional.

Now that you have reached a stage where everything mentioned above checks a tick on your list it is time to go for a quick spin. Take your car out for 20-minute drive close to home. It will loosen everything up and evaporate the moisture in the exhaust and in the engine. It will also give you a chance to listen for any rattles and engine misses while keeping an eye on the vehicle's gauges for abnormal engine temperatures, battery charging, and oil pressure.

KNOW ABOUT CORONAVIRUS     – By Dr Sunilkumar Bura

Coronaviruses are a large group of RNA viruses. It comes under the sub-family Orthocoronavirinae. Coronavirus virions are spherical to pleomorphic enveloped particles. The envelope is studded with projecting glycoproteins and surrounds a core consisting of matrix protein enclosed within which is a single strand of positive-sense RNA (Mr 6 × 106) associated with nucleoprotein. The envelope glycoproteins are responsible for attachment to the host cell and also carry the main antigenic epitopes, particularly the epitopes recognized by neutralizing antibodies. OC43 also possesses a haemagglutinin. The size of coronaviruses ranges from 26 to 32 kilobases. Most human coronaviruses fall into one of two serotypes: OC43-like and 229E-like. Coronaviruses cause acute, mild upper respiratory infection(Common cold) to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome(MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome(SARS).

Discovery of coronaviruses

The very first discovery of the coronavirus took place in 1960, the name of this virus comes from the crown-like spikes that it has its surface. The word corona came from the Latin word "Crown." The early discovered was an infectious bronchitis virus which was found in chicken's respiratory tract and then later in 1963 two more cases were discovered from the nasal cavity of humans named As Human Corona Virus 229E and Human Corona Virus OC43 as a result of zoonotic transmission (transmission of disease from animals to humans). Since then the cases have occurred in several other forms in minimal numbers. Many shreds of evidence in history state that corona has always spread from an animal to a human, for instance, SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) was transmitted from bat to a human being in china in November 2002 and caused severe acute respiratory syndrome(Infected-8,098 and Killed 774). That virus disappeared by 2004. Middle East respiratory syndrome(MERS) is caused by the MERS Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) which is also called camel flu was transmitted from camel to human in Saudi Arabia in September 2012(Infected-2,056 People and killed 862 people worldwide). But this time the scientist are having difficulty in identifying the animal responsible for COVID-19.

WHAT IS A NOVEL CORONAVIRUS(nCOVID-19)

Covid 19 means : CO = corona, VI= virus ,D= disease 2019.

A novel coronavirus (CoV) is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is defined as an illness caused by a novel coronavirus now called severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2; formerly called 2019-nCoV), which was first identified amid an outbreak of respiratory illness cases in Wuhan City, China in December 2019, which has a well-known seafood wholesale market, were a large number of people come to sell or buy live seafood; this market is also known for its wide variety of seafood. This strain of coronavirus was named COVID-19 on February 11 by the World Health Organization. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director of WHO, mentioned that they had to find a name that didn't point out any animal, geographical location, a person, or a group of people. The name should be easily pronounceable and had a clear relation to the disease. It's essential to have an impartial name so that other names don't get stigmatized. On January 30, 2020, the WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak a global health emergency. On March 11, 2020, the WHO declared COVID-19 a global pandemic, its first such designation since declaring H1N1 influenza a pandemic in 2009.

How does infection happen?

COVID-19 appears to be spread via respiratory secretions when infected people cough or sneeze, similar to how influenza (flu) spreads. Currently, people at risk for COVID-19 include those who have been in close contact with infected people within 14 days before their symptoms began. The average time from when persons are exposed to signs of illness is about 5 days and can range from 2 to 14 days.

What are the symptoms of coronavirus?

People with COVID-19 have a fever, cough, muscle aches, headache, and diarrhoea, which are all symptoms similar to other viral infections, such as the flu. People who need hospitalization usually have severe pneumonia.

What are the prevention methods that we should follow?

1. Washing your hands with soap - every time you come from outside.

2. Social distancing of around 6 feet - so you do not get the infection.

3. Wearing a mask - this prevents the droplets from entering.

4. Living in a hotter environment - do not turn on your AC - the virus does not survive in hot conditions. Drink hot water/tea.

5. Cleaning and disinfecting the environment around you.

6. Take your medication for your illness - as COVID generally clings to your already existing illnesses and escalates it - this causes most deaths in diabetics, heart patients etc.

Car insurance background check in India: Why & How

Insurance is proof of verifying your track record, living and financial status, assets, etc. And if you own a car, having car insurance in India is mandatory. The main reason is to fulfil the interests of your vehicle and how you can safeguard it in case of any accidents or damages. But while this is a consumer-oriented measure that provides financial protection against car damages, the motor insurance company takes stringent background checks before allowing the customer to proceed with the process.

Are you looking for answers as to why and how these insurers perform such checks on potential customers? This blog will answer all your queries and decode the details one by one.

• Insurance companies want to be aware of their customers, their identities, and mandatory details about them to serve their consumers in the best way possible. This also helps them improve their services, which is why they conduct background checks on their customers when required.

• Confirming the consumer’s identity is essential to ensure they are claiming their real identification. This will assure the insurance providers that they are not creating a profile and selling the car insurance to a fake name.

• We all see how scammers these days are getting ahead of the intelligence agencies and finding their way out to fraud people and steal their money, identities, etc. This is why background checks of consumers are essential to verify all their information through government-attested documents. Insurance companies have reported that they receive fake claims for third-party insurance and background checks provide a solution to this issue.

• One of the reasons for conducting background checks is to ensure that their policyholders’ identities have not been stolen through other means such as phone insurance, where the consumers have been scammed into revealing their identities to third parties, which eventually use the information to accomplish malicious tasks and activities.

• The insurance companies must abide by the “know your customer” and local and international anti-money laundering rules and regulations as per government standards. To follow these rules, they need factual information about no criminal activities and involvement, financial scams, money laundering, etc., associated with their customers.

• The background check also involves checking your credit score reports. A good score reflects that you have a good financial status and can repay your bills on time. This acts as proof of your spending habits, money-saving capabilities, etc.

• While issuing car insurance, your motor insurance company looks at your driving history and evaluate your driving record and its details. This assures them that you are a responsible driver and avoid any brazen or rash activities on the road. Such activities might endanger other people’s lives and vehicles on the road and put the road safety protocols at risk.

We hope these factors will help you understand car insurance and insurance companies’ protocols in a better way. Speaking of car insurance, have you considered getting online car insurance? Buying online is the smartest way of investing in insurance. Purchasing a policy from a reputed motor insurance company promises several benefits that protect your car against any damages and prevent you from venting your pockets.

Common mistakes beginners must avoid while changing a flat tyre 21

If you don't drive often, you could believe you don't need the competence to change a tyre and may leave it to the mechanic. However, the "flat tyre" problem can happen to anyone at any moment, whether you're driving your car around the block or through highways. The process of changing a tyre is more straightforward than you may imagine. It is better to fix the flat tyre issue immediately before it results in an accident.

Also, remember another best practice to follow is to buy new car insurance. This will provide a considerable financial benefit if your vehicle meets with an accident and causes loss or damage to any third party's property.

Here are some of the most frequent problems encountered while changing a tyre are listed below.

1. Shifting while on an incline:
Get to level ground before pulling the jack out of the car and changing the tyre. If you try to replace the tyre while on a slope, the car can slide off the jack. Before you jack up the car and steady it, set the emergency brake. To prevent rolling, put wheel wedges in front or behind the tyres.

2. Lacking the required tools:
Most individuals don't examine the vehicle jack kit when they acquire a car and undermine the importance of a complete kit. Ensure you check the jack kit thoroughly before driving.

3. Having passengers in the car:
Consider the situation when you have to repair a flat tyre quickly, and you have located a suitable location to do it. Before the tyre-changing procedure begins, ensure all passengers, including pets, exit the car. This can help change the tyres easily as you remove obstructive weight from the vehicle.

4. Stuck alloy wheel rims:
Even seasoned drivers can get caught off guard by this one. Due to rust, alloy wheel rims that haven't been removed for a while may end up attached to the hub immediately behind where the tyre is located. You might need a hammer in the car, which you can use to hit the centre of the wheel covering the tyre. However, it is recommended to take the help of a professional mechanic.

5. Incorrect use of jacking points:
Every car has a few places on the underside that are intended to be used with a jack. Neglecting this part of a flat tyre replacement could cause damage to the automobile or cause it to fall off the jack. The owner's manual for your particular car model will include the proper jacking points. Always use those points to secure the jack.

6. Forgetting about your spare tyre:
Some vehicle owners heed it. An easy maintenance task is to check the spare tyre's condition every few months. If you need to put the spare tyre, do ensure that it is adequately filled and in good condition. If it's flat, weak, rotten, or fractured, it is of no help.

7. Impossible to unscrew wheel nuts or studs:
Even people with well-developed biceps may struggle with this. It might be relatively easy to manually free wheel nuts if they were excessively tight the last time you visited the workshop. Additionally, overtightening has the potential to harm threads permanently.

A flat tyre is a common occurrence that causes stress levels to soar. Take a deep breath and ensure you exit the road safely to prevent the risk of accidents. While there is no way to avoid a flat tyre, you can prepare for such situations by knowing basic car know-how. We also urge you to buy new car insurance since it covers the costs of an accident and financially protects your vehicle against the damages.

Complete guide to hosting a party at your home

The world only recently started reeling from the pandemic that took almost two years of our lives. Malls, cinema halls, and amusement parks have begun functioning at full capacity. This is the perfect time to meet people and renew old friendships.

If you're excited to plan a reunion with your college gang, peer groups, or family, then why not host a party at your home. This article is just for you if you want to host a simple yet fun party at your home.

1. Sort your guest list:

Creating the guest list is challenging. With limited seating inside your house, hosting a huge crowd becomes difficult. Prioritise the people that you want at the party. Try not to mix your personal and professional groups at the same party. Focus on choosing people who are capable of leaving their work behind.

2. Order food in:

Hosting a party can be stressful only if you decide to handle every aspect of the party. Everything can become overwhelming quickly. Ordering food is a smart way to eliminate the preparation time and effort that goes into making the food.
One thing you can do before the party is to ask the guests about their food allergies or preferences. Be creative with the starters. Most people fill up on the starters and barely try the main course. Opting for fun and unique starters is sure to set a benchmark.

3. Use paper cups and glasses:

It might not sound classy or elegant, but tons of fancy and quirky cutlery is available in the market. Opting for disposable plates and cutleries helps eliminate the whole washing and cleaning routine.
You can also rest assured that none of your bowls or plates is broken. Also, you allow yourself the time to focus on enjoying the party rather than killing the excitement under the stress of washing the utensils later.

4. Keep the bathroom clean:

We end up fussing about the decor, the cushions, the sofa, and that one corner behind the TV stand that nobody notices. But we often forget the essentials such as bathrooms and kitchen. A dirty bathroom or a kitchen is sure to leave a mark, and no matter how dolled up your living space is, a dirty bathroom will be the talk of the town.
Throw in a couple of extra towels and set up multiple tissue boxes around the house so that people have easy access. Use room fresheners and other fragrances to keep everything smelling fresh and fabulous.

5. Let others help you:

Being a good host essentially means letting everyone enjoy a party. If people offer to help you with food or decorations, accept it. This way, you are sharing the load and enjoying a mix of different ideas and options. This will help you tremendously at the last minute as you know that there are fewer things that you need to be worrying about.

6. Account for kids:

If you are hosting a party and the kids are also invited, then you might want to set up a room just for them. A few games, puzzles, or a TV running in the background can help keep the kids occupied. If possible, make a dining set up exclusively for the kids as it's not fair to expect them to hold the plates in their hands while eating.
Also, customise some of the food items for the little ones. Almost every kid loves food items such as pizza, nuggets and juices.

Follow the above tips, and you're all set to host the perfect house party. Making all the arrangements, decorating the house, and creating a positive ambiance before planning a party is fun.

We put so much thought into making our home the best place to live. Why not take some time to ensure its safety? After all, our home is our responsibility, and safeguarding it should be our priority. The best way to do this is house insurance. Magma HDI offers the best house insurance India with several benefits for the homeowners.
